Your Talent Partner

Canada’s energy sector is undergoing a digital transformation to meet our Net Zero goals. Alongside this transformation, it is apparent that our energy workforce must transform too as the novel demands of the ever-evolving work environment place pressure on employers and their workers to adapt and develop the skills required to meet new challenges. Faced with this reality, the need for regular reskilling has never been greater.

TALENT is on a mission to bridge the cybersecurity skills gap in the energy sector with our new Cybersecurity for Energy Program. Our program is developed in collaboration with leaders in Canada’s energy and cybersecurity industries.

Whether you need to reskill or upskill your existing workforce and/or attract new talent, TALENT is your partner in delivering job-ready workers at a lower cost than your current talent-acquisition strategies.

Cybersecurity For Energy: At A Glance

Roughly 25% of all Canadian oil and gas organizations reported a cyber incident in 2019 the highest rate among all critical infrastructure sectors.

%

More than 75% of Canadian energy companies fail to have basic cybersecurity measures in place, security lag that puts customers, staff, stakeholders, and the country’s energy infrastructure at risk.

To meet anticipated cybersecurity-related needs, it is projected that the current energy labour force will need 28,000 new employees by 2028, equivalent to 25% of the existing workforce.

The Government of Canada has identified a gap in cybersecurity talent within the energy sector, posing a serious threat to energy companies. As a result, and thanks to our funding partners at Upskill Canada and Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED) Canada, TALENT has developed the Cybersecurity for Energy Program to support the goal of closing this gap and connecting Canadian energy organizations to the talent they need. Learn how TALENT can support you as a partner—whether through hiring our current students or upskilling your existing team.
