This learning package includes registration for the Dementia Care for Healthcare Workers microcredential as well as U-First!® and Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA®). Conveniently packaged together to provide healthcare professionals looking to start a new career, or refresh existing skills, an in-depth learning experience to provide quality person-centered care.

Designed by Ontario Tech University and the top organizations in healthcare, the Dementia Care for Healthcare Workers microcredential has been developed to address the dementia-specific skills gap. To increase the competency of new healthcare graduates and reaffirm current healthcare workers’ dementia care competencies, our subject matter experts have developed a comprehensive learning experience to prepare healthcare workers for this rewarding specialty.

  • What's included in this microcredential?

    This bundle pricing includes the Dementia Care for Healthcare Workers microcredential as well as registration for U-First!® and Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA®).
  • How do I register for UFirst! and GPA

    Once you complete your registration for the Dementia Care bundle, you will receive a confirmation email with links to register for UFirst! and GPA.
  • When does the course start?

    This microcredential launches on November 22nd. After the launch date, learners are able to register and start anytime.
  • How much time is required of me?

    This microcredential typically requires between 3-5 hours a week of course work.
  • How am I evaluated?

    What makes a TALENT microcredential different is the final assessment. There are weekly multiple choice questions that will guide your learning progress then learners are given a final assessment where they will apply their learning to a practical assignment. A facilitator will evaluate the final assignment and award a digital badge if the final assignment is completed successfully.
  • How long is the course?

    We recommend 6 weeks to complete the microcredential but learners have the flexibility to complete the microcredential over three months at their own pace.
  • Will this microcredential get me a job?

    Microcredentials are a great way to differentiate yourself when searching for a job. The digital badge can be added to social platforms and resumes to demonstrate your skills. TALENT works closely with learners to guide and advise on learner's career journeys.
  • Is there any financial assistance?

    We never want finances to be a reason why learners can't improve their skills and gain meaningful employment. If you have any questions about financial assistance, please reach out to us directly (info@ontariotechtalent.ca).
